Equipment Reservation Requests

If you are requesting equipment, be sure you have read and signed a Usage Agreement Form and are familiar with equipment use policies.

Reservations for equipment are handled through the College of Liberal Arts CLAIM system.

The CLAIM system can be accessed directly at: http://checkout.sjmc.umn.edu at any time from any computer with web access. Equipment availability is based on classes in which you are currently registered. You will need to log in with your x500 id and password.

Some general checkout rules to bear in mind:

  • Equipment is not available for pick up until noon Monday - Friday.
  • Equipment must be reserved 24 hours in advance.
  • Equipment is due back before lab closes each day. Returns on the following morning are considered late and may result in your priveleges being terminated.
  • Access to equipment is based on the classes in which you are enrolled.
  • Although you will receive an automatic confirmation of your reservation, your reservation may be unavailable if it has not been returned on time or if the equipment has been damaged. We will make every effort to find a suitable substitute in such cases.
  • The CLAIM system will block reservations not in accordance with checkout rules.
  • Remember that all use of equipment is a privelege, subject to the rules of the Digital Media Studio. Failure to observe rules, abuse of equipment and failure to return equipment on time can result in penalties including: grading penalities, suspension of privileges, holds on academic records.
